Ye Hai Mohabbatein (abbreviated as YHM) is a Hindi soap opera. The show was previously known as Tera Mera Rishta Purana. It premiered on Star Plus in December 2013. The plot encircles the lives of two main characters; Ishita and Raman. Both develop feelings for each other and get married. The serial is one of most watched Indian TV shows. More than 850 episodes of the show have been aired as of July 18, 2016. It has been filmed at different locations in Delhi, Mumbai and Australia. YHM has been remade in Tamil, Bengali and Kannada languages. The popularity of the show is not limited to India. The serial has been aired in Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Cambodia. 1- Heart Touching Opening Theme
The serial has a heart touching title song ‘ Pal Pal Bade Ye Hai Mohabbatein ‘. It has been sung by famous singer Pamela Jain.

3- A Loving Stepmother
Ye Hai Mohabbatein revolves around main protagonist Ishita. She forms an emotional connection with Raman’s daughter Ruhi. Raman is driven to Ishita due her positive attitude towards Ruhi. Nidhi Chabra kidnaps Ruhi and flees to Australia. She changes her identity and raises Ruhi under the disguise of a boy name Ruhaan. Ruhaan is a rock-star in Ye Hai Mohabbatein. Young actress Aditi Bhatia is playing Ruhaan. Despite being a girl, Bhatia enjoys portraying a boy. It was challenging for her to behave like a boy in the beginning. However, she got used to it with the help of boys on the sets.
5- Refreshing Leaps
The serial takes many leaps in time. It adds extra fun to the show because the characters look different. The leaps introduce fresh characters and bring new twists and turns in the story. They also relocate characters to different cities and foreign countries.
Ishita and Raman are deeply in love. Ye Hai Mohabbatein depicts plenty of romance between them. The chemistry between these two characters is worth watching. They make it seem like they are really married. However, some of their romantic encounters are graphic in nature. When aired by Urdu 1 in Pakistan, these scenes sparked controversies. Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) deemed the scenes inappropriate for family viewing and issued a notice to Urdu 1.
7- Peculiar Ex-wife
Shagun Arora is Raman’s ex-wife. She becomes jealous of Ishita when Raman marries her. She makes several attempts to separate them. Ishita gets treatment to cure her infertility and succeeds. She gets pregnant but loses the baby in an accident. Shagun offers to become surrogate mother of Ishita’s baby. She gives birth to Ishita’s baby girl Pihu. This is not something that audience expect from a traditional jealous ex-wife depicted in a drama.
8- Separations and Reunions
Circumstances separate Ishita and Raman. Raman is reunited with his ex-wife Shagun. However, he meets Ishita after seven years at a party. They get drunk and confess their feelings for each other. They end up sleeping together on the same bed. When Shagun discovers about their recent encounter, she asks Raman to marry Ishita. These separations and reunions are very emotional which makes Ye Hai Mohabbatein appealing to women.
